Goodwin commits to new retirement living code of conduct

Goodwin Aged Care Services will become a signatory to the Retirement Living Code of Conduct as part of its commitment to providing high-quality accommodation and services to senior Australians.

The code of conduct was developed by the Retirement Living Council (RLC) and Leading Aged Services Australia (LASA) with input from Goodwin and other stakeholders. It is a thorough set of guidelines that sets a high standard for providers of retirement living communities.

Signing up is one way retirement living providers can demonstrate a commitment to responsible and quality service that goes above and beyond the standard set by current legislation.

Goodwin Chief Operating Officer, Stephen Holmes welcomes the code of conduct and hopes it leads to the retirement living sector as a whole lifting its game.

‘We are proud to be transparent in how we work and wholeheartedly support the Retirement Living Code of Conduct,’ said Mr Holmes.

The code of conduct has been developed through consultation with a broad range of stakeholders including residents, retirement living providers and peak bodies to empower the more than 180,000 Australians living in retirement villages. Signatories such as Goodwin, commit to uphold the wellbeing of residents by providing clear and simple information about costs and contracts; practicing fairness in marketing and sales; maintaining good relationships with residents and stakeholders; following certain processes when residents move out; and appropriate handling of complaints and resolving disputes.
